Sadly my grandfather passed away over the Christmas holiday. Little did I know that he left me a substantial amount of money and the funds to fix up a car he and my uncle bought for me.
He wanted me to use that money primarily to finish my college education (it's enough for a four year degree at least), so I decided to take some of that money and go to college close to my honey! (We've been dating close to 3 years) I originally wanted to move around July, but since I need to establish residency to avoid those out of state tuition fees, I'm shooting for May of this year. (Because it'll put another year on my resume for a total of 9 years consecutive employment)
A few key things:

-I need a job before I move. Period. End-quote. Not moving unless I have the income
- Use some money and BUY a foreclosed home, and get the appropriate things in gear. 1 in 35 homes are in foreclosure in the area I'm thinking of moving to, and rates are relatively cheap. If it's good enough, I was also thinking about renting out a room to close friends of mine who live in the area. To friends it just doesn't make sense to rent an apartment, when I could just buy a house.
-Figure out just how difficult it will be to transfer credits and any special conditions that need to be fulfilled in order to go into my chosen study. (Since I'm a returning-to-college student I think UM-Dearborn requires a 'trial' period of basic classes before actual enrollment)
-Figure out if the car i'm getting will be able to survive the road trip. (its 600 miles to bring it here from KY, and another 600 to take it to MI
-Settle debt and fix computer and it's death rattle.
So I think I'm inching closer to a move. I just have to make sure key pieces are in place.
